NEWRY, Maine ??” Sunday River will be opening for the season at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17. Top-to-bottom skiing and riding will be available at Barker Mountain Thursday afternoon and Friday, with the South Ridge area to be added by Saturday, Nov. 19.

“The deep snow me made last week has stuck around and we’ll be maxing out the system to expand terrain. The weather forecast looks good for snowmaking through next week,” said Marvin Collins, vice president of mountain operations at Sunday River.

Three trails and one lift will operate Thursday afternoon with four trails on Friday. Sunday River will open at 9 a.m. Friday and at 8 a.m. this weekend. By Saturday, Sunday River plans to have at least six trails, two lifts and two base lodges open to the public. Snowmaking operations have resumed and a favorable weather forecast will allow Sunday River to greatly expand terrain prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Updates on terrain, hours and lift ticket prices are available at www.sundayriver.com. Lift ticket prices this weekend are $35 for adults and $25 for juniors and seniors.

The Tin Mountain Roundup occurs Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20. Guests who bring at least 3 cans of food will get a $20 lift ticket while supporting local food banks. Early season Ski Free Packages start at $49.95 and include free skiing along with a free Perfect Turn group clinic.
