HIGHMOUNT, New York ??” Belleayre Mountain, New York’s Winter Snow Park, opened for its’ 56th season on Saturday, November 19, 2005. The die-hards lined up at the ticket window early to get their first turns on the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders, eager to make first tracks on a freshly groomed trail, practically ran to the base of the lift as it opened. Belleayre Mountain’s Superintendent Tony Lanza was the most excited of them all, with a wide grin and a handshake of welcome to his visitors. “I would just like to wish everyone a happy new year!”, Mr. Lanza said. ” And I think that we should all petition the powers to be that the first day of the new year should always be the first day of ski season.”

Visitors to Belleayre Mountain have come to expect great new skiing opportunities awaiting them after each long summer, and this season is no exception. With two new glade runs, increased snowmaking, a carving skill park and five new rails for the Area 51 terrain park, Belleayre is offering something new for every level skier and rider. And for anyone who’s ridden the Tomahawk Lift after a big snowstorm and longed for fresh tracks under the lift will be thrilled to know that “Lift Line” will now be open for skiing.

Belleayre Mountain will now be open full-time for skiing and riding with the exception of November 24th, Thanksgiving Day. As an incentive to come out early, take advantage of Belleayre’s Buy One, Get One Free special. If you purchase a lift ticket between opening day and November 23rd, bring that ticket back between March 20, 2006 and closing day and you will receive a free lift ticket of the same value. And work off that turkey and stuffing with $25 lift tickets the day after Thanksgiving, November 25th.
