SOUTH EGREMONT, Massachusetts ??” The Catamount Ski Area, which straddles the Massachusetts/New York state line in the Berkshires, will start snowmaking operations on November 23.

The resort currently expects to open for the ski season on Saturday, December 3.

Catamount General Manager Bill Gilbert said that the resort planned to start the season’s snowmaking efforts by making snow on a top-to-bottom route including Glade, On Stage and the Catamount trail, and on lower-mountain trails including the Terrain Park and the Snowsports Learning Area.

“We’ve got a nice weather window for snowmaking,” Gilbert said. “We’re looking at night time temperatures in the teens and low 20s for the next five days, and it currently looks like we’ll be able to continue making snow on upper elevation runs pretty much round the clock.”

Improvements at Catamount this winter include a newly installed triple chairlift serving the resorts The Meadows Learning Area, expansion of the resort’s famed terrain park, and the addition of the Taconic Lodge, the resort’s second base lodge facility.
