Carinthia Freeski OpenWest Dover, VT (March 19, 2013) – Inferno, the only terrain park on the planet to have hosted both the Winter X Games and Winter Dew Tour slopestyle events, was in prime condition for Saturday’s (March 16) Carinthia Freeski Open at Mount Snow Resort with a strong field of athletes taking on the sizeable course in an effort to go home with a piece of the $6,000 purse. Standing atop the podium for the pro men was Gabriel Boudreau who made the trip from Quebec and went home with the $2,000 first place check by impressing the judges, including head judge Devin Logan, with huge airs and technical tricks in the rail section.

Boudreau and second place pro finisher Mark Nowakiwsky from Breckinridge each earned a spot in the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Platinum Certified Dumont Cup freeski event, courtesy of Red Bull. Rounding out the pro men’s podium was native Vermonter and Carinthia Pro Team skier, Ben Smith.

It was mid-winter conditions at Mount Snow with high temperatures only reaching the mid-20’s which helped to keep the slopestyle course in good shape throughout the day and allowed competitors to go big without having to worry about losing speed due to soft, spring-like snow which can sometimes be the case during mid-March.

The Carinthia Open is an AFP Bronze Certified Event and is open to male and female skiers at the professional and amateur levels.

Event sponsors include Skull Candy, Bern, Smith Optics, Neff and Nordica.
