KILLINGTON, Vermont ??” The 2006 Vermont Adaptive Ski Challenge and the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge take to the slopes of Pico Mountain on March 4th and 5th. Both of these events are geared toward skiers and riders of all ages and ability levels, promising entertainment and fun for the whole family

On Saturday, the Vermont Adaptive Ski Challenge ski race hits the slopes of Pico Mountain and features teams of three competing for prizes and points in various categories, including best costume and fastest time. The day’s festivities include the ski race, raffle and awards and will conclude with the Gala Reception Saturday evening. Registration takes place from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Pico Lodge. The Gala Reception is at 5 p.m. at the Killington Grand Resort Hotel Oscar Wild Ballroom.

“Vermont Adaptive provides sports and recreation for individuals with disabilities and the spirit of the ski challenge matches that of Pico’s – to remain competitive and fun,” said George Potter, VP of Operations for Pico Mountain. “The goal of this fundraiser is $15,000 and we expect to met or exceed that amount since the race attracts a large number of families and yearly participants and it is really entertaining to watch.”

The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge will take place at Killington March 4th and at Pico Mountain March 5th. The Challenge is designed to provide ski and snowboard racing fun for the whole family. The Mountain Dew team will head to Killington on Saturday to setup the venue on Snowshed slope. Sunday the events move to Pico where registration will be held in the Pico Lodge beginning at 8 a.m. There will be tons of prizes for the winners of the race as well as giveaways and raffle prizes.
