NEWRY, Maine ??” The deep base of snow on Sunday River’s famed White Heat trail has historically spent the months of April and May slowly melting away. The second week of April gave the trail new life however, as a who’s who list of professional skiers, riders and photographers took to a built from scratch terrain park setup unlike anything the East has ever seen.

“Everyone involved was pretty blown away that we went for and pulled off a Superpark event,” said Alex Kaufman, Sunday River Communications Manager. “Our parks team spent 60 straight hours farming snow downhill and building up two massive piles on which they got mighty creative. To be able to build a park of that magnitude from scratch at this time of year is a testament to Sunday River snowmaking and snowcat skills.”

Sunday River’s Heat Harvest Superpark 06′ was sessioned and documented by Meathead Films for their upcoming release Project 06′. Also attending were members of the Eastern Boarder snowboard team, skiers from SIC Films, Killington and Mount Snow snowboard teams, K2 riders, a member of the Nike 6.0 team, a small group of top local skiers and riders, plus photographers from numerous websites and print publications.

White Heat is located on White Cap, which was completely closed to the public and served by a private lift. The event was far more than a photo shoot however. It was the East’s first attempt at an annual western tradition where top pros and media get together in a non-competitive environment to document the most progressive skiing and riding of the year. Invitees enjoyed accommodations at Sunday River’s Grand Summit Resort Hotel, along with breakfast and lunch on all shooting days.
