Whiteface Adaptive Snow Sports Program Looking For Volunteers

WILMINGTON, New York -??“ The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announced Tuesday that Whiteface will offer two weekends of Mono and Bi-Ski teaching clinics this month.

These free clinics, slated for January 6 and January 20, teach attendees the principles of teaching and assisting those who require this type of sit down equipment to ski, according to Don Dew, Director of the Adaptive Snow Sports Program at Whiteface.

“Our goal is to increase the volunteer base to work with the disabled population,” said Dew.

Participants will meet at the Adaptive Office, in the Upper Tunnel, at 9 a.m. for registration each day. Daily on-snow instruction is set for 10 a.m. ??“ 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. ??“ 3 p.m.

Whiteface PSIA-certified staff members will conduct the clinics. Upon successful conclusion volunteers will receive a certificate of participation.
