Fresh Snow and Fireworks Light Up February Vacation Week at Cranmore
NORTH CONWAY, New Hampshire — February vacation week will offer a variety of fun and festive family activities featuring fireworks, Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge and more, all taking place at Cranmore Mountain Resort, North Conway, NH.
Cranapalooza, the night time festival of activities with night skiing under the lights from 2-9pm, will take place on Saturday, February 17 with a mardi gras theme. In addition to a t-shirt giveaway in the South Chair lift line, s’mores around the fire pit, face painting on the Eating House deck and appearances by C-More the Penguin, Mo the Clown and musical guests Dennis and Davey will perform in the Eating House. Fireworks will be launched at 7:30pm. Cranapalooza on Wednesday, February 21 will include the Hawaiian luau theme, hypnotist Mike Hathaway and musical guest The Whatnot. Saturday, February 24 is the pink-ribbon themed Cranapalooza, with Mr. Phil’s Magic Show, musical guest Truffle, and fireworks again set to launch at 7:30pm.
Cranapalooza lift tickets are available at $19 for all ages with access to lifts from 2-9pm. Also, bring the same day’s ticket from any other mountain to the Cranmore Ticket Haus and get a Cranapalooza ticket for $15. Lift tickets are not required for Cranapalooza activities such as live music, entertainers and fireworks.
The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge returns to Cranmore on Wednesday, February 21, for a fun-filled day of racing, interactive games, music, prizes and complimentary Mountain Dew. This event is open to skiers and riders of all ages, with the top three racers in each of 30 race categories taking home Gold, Silver or Bronze medals. All medalists will receive lift tickets to Loon Mountain for the finals on Saturday, March 31. Race registration is from 8-11am, and the competition runs from 11am-1pm. The Vertical Victory Party with awards ceremony and raffle takes place at 2:30pm. There is no charge for registration, but racers must have a lift ticket or season pass to participate. Pink Ribbon Jibbin’ with the Smith Limo will take place in the Darkside Terrain Park under the lights Saturday, February 24. Participants can show their support for breast cancer research by signing up to slide the legendary Smith Limo rail. Registration is from 1pm-4pm and the competition begins at 5pm. A minimum $25 donation is required to enter. Participants are encouraged to raise as much as possible to help meet a goal of two thousand dollars for donation to Boarding for Breast Cancer.
The Darkside Terrain Park team will present the second Jib Saw Massacre jams on Saturday, February 17 for snowboarders and Sunday, February 18 for skiers. Registration is from 8-10am each day and the competition begins at 11:45am at the top of the Darkside on both days. Bib raffle, results and awards with prizes for top finishers including an Atomic snowboard and a pair of Solomon skis, will be given out after the conclusion of the event on both days. A $10 registration fee applies. Competitors require a lift ticket or season pass.
Cranmore is open from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm Sundays, and 8:30am-9pm Saturday, February 17 and 24 as well as Wednesday, February 21 for Cranapalooza.
Cranmore is home to New Hampshire’s most popular tubing hill, the Arctic Blast Tubing Park. The Park will have special holiday hours of 9am-9pm Friday, February 16-24, and 9am-4pm Sunday, February 25.
