WINTERGREEN, Virginia — Built with a younger audience in mind, the new Adventure Dome at Wintergreen Resort’s Out of Bounds Adventure Center was conceived as a place for kids to escape after skiing or to slip away from parents for a bit of “breathing room.” To everyone’s surprise, however, the Dome, which includes ten Xbox 360s, two Nintendo Wiis, an over-sized plasma screen television, a pool table and lots of comfortable seating, has been a hit with the once-young audiences as well. In fact, the Dome has become the hangout spot for both young and old since it opened at the start of the ski season.

Touting something for everyone, the Adventure Dome also includes Wi-Fi Internet access, air hockey, basketball two-man game, mechanical bull, foosball tables, a theatre showing ski, snowboard and other sporting events and children’s interactive games.

Open on weekends*, the Adventure Dome’s hours are Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Dome is also available for private parties and corporate retreats.

Located at Discovery Ridge, the Adventure Dome will be open year ???round, so it promises to continue its popularity with the spring season’s golf set, meeting groups and summer tennis crowd.
