NORTH CONWAY, New Hampshire — Cranmore Mountain announced the return of its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, from 4-9pm in the 10th Mountain Pavilion at the North Conway resort.

Rechristened “Rocktoberfest,” this year’s event will feature music by two rock bands including The Chris Fitz Band. Returning for this year will be the popular keg race and other beer-related fun and games.

Sponsored by New Hampshire Distributors, Rocktoberfest will offer guests giveaways including a commemorative beer stein from one of the authentic German brews being poured at the event, Beck’s Oktoberfest, Erdinger Oktoberfesr and Erdinger Hefeweizen. The steins are available for a limited number of visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rocktoberfest guests can also enjoy an array of fun Bavarian style food including bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, German chocolate cake and more.

Once again, the event will benefit a local cause. This year, the Eastern Slopes Ski Club will benefit from donations from Rocktoberfest visitors. Last year, over $1,500 was raised for local skiing phenom and US Women’s Ski Team ski racer, Leanne Smith.

“Our first Oktoberfest event was extremely popular and a fun event for all ages, in the Cranmore fashion,” stated resort GM Ben Wilcox. “We look forward to this year’s event benefiting ESSC, an organization we have supported since Cranmore’s inception in the 1930s.”

There is no charge for admission but a $2 donation for ESSC is requested at the door. This is an all ages event.

Also returning this fall is Cranmore’s mountaintop Halloween Haunt, the Ghoullog. Running weekends in October, the Ghoullog takes unwary visitors on a scary chairlift ride to the summit haunted house. “Last year many dates sold out for the Ghoullog,” continued Wilcox. “We strongly encourage people to reserve tickets in advance on our website.”
