Cranmore Launches Winter SPORTS Conditioning Class at its Family Fitness Center
NORTH CONWAY, New Hampshire — With the leaves changing colors and fall in the air, Cranmore Mountain is looking forward to another great season of skiing and riding this winter. To prepare its guests for a winter of hitting the steeps and bumps, Cranmore Family Fitness Center is offering a special winter sports conditioning class starting Tues., October 14, 2008.
The Winter Sports Conditioning class, running from October 14 to December 11, is offered 5 days a week with both morning, evening and weekend sessions available. Lead fitness instructor for the course is Dr. Larissa Taylor. Dr. Taylor has 20 years of experience in the health and fitness field and has a doctorate in Chiropractic. She is a long-time popular group fitness instructor at the Fitness Center and has been teaching Winter Sports Conditioning for the last 5 years at Cranmore.
Each session is 90 minutes long and starts with cardiovascular training. “Winter Sports Conditioning will focus on increasing overall fitness: stamina, strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility, injury prevention and boosting performance on the mountain,” explained Taylor.
Weather permitting, classes take place outside with sports specific activities including strengthening moves, plyometrics and core strengthening. With Cranmore Mountain as its training grounds, the class will use vertical training, one of the best ways to train the legs and your heart at the same time. “Anyone teaching a class like this would love to have a mountain at their disposal, which of course Cranmore has,” Taylor continued. “We have the perfect location for this training. We do hiking, training, walking lunges and hiking up the hill.”
Indoor training will take place at the Cranmore Fitness Center, using a variety of fun fitness tools such as Spinning bikes, agility ladders, Bosu Balance trainers, stability balls and steps.
No other fitness center in the region offers as many sessions for as great a value as Cranmore, which has expanded this Winter Sports Conditioning Class this season to five days a week, costing as little as $8 per session. Cranmore is also the only fitness center in the Mount Washington Valley located right on the mountain, ideally suited to this type of training.
Fitness assessments will be done the first week of class and again at the end of the program to help participants measure their progress. To encourage families to participate the Club is offering a babysitting club style daycare for the evening classes with activities geared for 4-10 year olds. Plus, kids ages 8 and up can join their parents for the Saturday workouts for $5 a day.
