Sunday River Adds More Terrain for Weekend Thanks to Powder Day

NEWRY, Maine — Since receiving six inches of new snow this morning, Sunday River is announcing today is a Powder Day! Snow continues to fall with another 2-4 inches expected by this evening. This new snow is perfectly timed for Sunday River’s Chondola Grand Opening Celebration scheduled for this Saturday, December 20, at 6 p.m.

The Chondola Grand Opening celebration starts at 6 p.m. and includes fireworks, parties, free night skiing and riding as well as guest appearances from Maine Governor John Baldacci, Stephen Kircher ??“ president of Eastern operations for Boyne, Byron Carlock ??“ president and CEO of CNL Lifestyle Properties, and Wally The Green Monster, the original Red Sox Mascot.

For this weekend, Sunday River is expected to open with 80 trails including the “longest steepest widest trail in the East” – White Heat.
