LUDLOW, Vermont — After the lifts stop turning and darkness falls on Sunday, Feb. 15, Okemo Mountain Resort will light up the night sky to celebrate President’s Day and February Vacation Week. The resort will host a snowshoe tour, a kids’ light parade, a torchlight parade and fireworks for resort guests and the public to enjoy.

A Kids’ Light Parade will kick off the festivities. Children carrying glow sticks will snake their way down Okemo’s Fairway trail after riding the F10 Carpet lift out of the Clocktower base area. Children ages 4-14, who are Level 4 or above, may participate and there will be a $10 fee per child. Check in and group activities are scheduled from 6:30-7 p.m. in the Snowstars Children’s Center. The Kids’ Light Parade will start at 7 p.m.

Also at 7 p.m., a guided snowshoe tour will depart from outside the Sitting Bull, in the Clocktower base area. This short trek to the Sugarhouse will provide participants with a bird’s-eye view of the evening’s fireworks display. Snowshoe rentals will be available for $15 a pair at the Okemo Rental Shop starting at 6 p.m.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., a Torchlight Parade of Okemo staff members will start at the top of Wardance and wind its way down Open Slope for all to see. As the torches are extinguished in the base area, Northstar Fireworks will launch a spectacular pyrotechnic display into the night sky.

In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, Okemo offers visitors a host of winter activities. The February Vacation Week period is full of special family events like snow tubing, ice skating, guided snowshoe tours, apr??s ski events, OkeMovie Nights, and more.
