EAST BURKE, Vermont — Burke Mountain and Catamount Arts announces today that the Rustic Overtones will headline the 3rd Annual Burke Mountain Music Festival. Opening for the band will be Vermont-based Eames Brothers Band along with Manchester New Hampshire’s Duty Free.

Produced in conjunction with Catamount Arts and sponsored by Magic 97.7, Kix 105.5 & 106.3 The Notch, the 3rd Annual Burke Mountain Music Festival will be held on Saturday September 12th, 2009 staged directly behind the Sherburne Base Lodge, with amphitheater-style grass seating on the mountain’s lower slopes. Gates to the festival will open at 3pm with the Eames Brothers Band opening the show at 4pm. Tickets for the festival are available for sale at Catamount Arts located at 115 Eastern Ave. in St. Johnsbury, VT, or online at www.skiburke.com. Advanced tickets are $15 and $20 day of the show (6% Vt. State tax and a $2 service fee will be applied to all ticket sales.)

The first group to perform live on XM Satellite Radio, the Rustic Overtones are a rock/jazz/funk band from Maine. Their latest album, Light at the End, was released nationally by Velour Music Group in March 2008. Formed in the early 90s, the Rustic Overtones gained popularity with funky horn-infused jams and a rock solid, rock-ready style.

Playing since 2002, Duty Free has established themselves as a band synonymous with high-energy shows and positive vibes. In 2006, the band’s “dedication to quality live performances” and “contagious energy” (Hippo Press) provided the band with several opportunities to spread their music. In 2006, Duty Free prevailed as the National Champions at the nation-wide Battle of the Bands Search. Duty Free has opened for big name acts like Tom Petty and Foo Fighters. A new album, Don’t Block The Sunshine, was released in August 2008. The album features all original material that ranges from the title track which is a pure hip-hop – funk tune, to the acoustic driven melodies of Capo.

With their CD ???Open Road??? voted in the Top 10 Vermont CDs of 2006 by Seven Days, opening the show is Vermont’s own Eames Brothers Band. “The Eames’ music is rooted in tradition, from sparse delta blues to stinging electric shuffles.
