NEWRY, Maine — A record-breaking 350 Santas donated a total of $3,516 to charity, earning them each three free days of skiing and riding plus the chance to participate in the highly coveted 10th Annual Santa Sunday taking place today at Sunday River in Newry, Maine. This is the most money that Sunday River has ever earned for the Bethel Rotary Club’s Christmas Toy Drive.

“This is one of Sunday River’s favorite events and fundraisers,” said Dana Bullen, General Manager for Sunday River. “We have families who participate in Santa Sunday year after year. We pride ourselves in being part of their great memories and a wonderful cause.”

Participants who donned head-to-toe Santa attire received a free day of skiing or riding for today’s event, as well as vouchers for two additional days. A minimum donation of $10 toward the Bethel Rotary Club’s Annual Christmas Toy Drive was required and will be used to purchase gifts for children in the region.

The event was held on Sunday River’s Barker Mountain. Sunday River received three inches of snow overnight and cold temperatures have allowed the resort to make snow for over 24 hours. Skiers and riders have been enjoying Sunday River’s slopes since its opening day on October 14, 2009.
