About The Perlman Music Program
Founded by Toby Perlman 18 years ago, The Perlman Music Program offers unparalleled musical training to young string players of rare and special talent. With a world-class faculty led by Itzhak Perlman, the New York City and Shelter Island, New York based program seeks to develop the future leaders of classical music, all within a nurturing and supportive musical community.
At each PMP program, students and faculty (including Mr. and Mrs. Perlman) participate in daily choral rehearsals, led by PMP’s choral director, Patrick Romano. While none of the students are trained singers, PMP believes that the skills needed for singing directly correlates to the skills they are mastering on their instruments, and the astonishing results speak for themselves.
