Holidays at Stratton are Spectacular

From traditional celebrations like the Gobble Gobble Wobble 5K, feasting and fireworks to those you won’t find anywhere else, such as Snowboard Celebration Week and Stratton’s Fiftieth Birthday Party, holidays at Stratton are spectacular.

Be a part of Stratton’s birthday bash this year with special deals and events all season long. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Stratton’s opening day, guests who arrive on December 23 and book two nights lodging get the third night free in select locations! Or make a family vacation sweeter with Stratton’s Kids Ski and Stay Free package, available select non-holiday dates. Skiers and snowboarders17 and younger are invited to ski and stay free when two adults purchase a (2 night minimum) lift and lodging package in a family friendly condominium. Plus, kids rent free when an adult purchases a rental.

Holiday plans are afoot for the entire season from Thanksgiving to New Year’s and there’s sure to be something for everyone no matter when they visit. Fans of freestyle action can duke it out at the Cold Wars Rail Jam while others can get a warm, fuzzy feeling from bright lights and caroling at the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Festivities include:

Opening Weekend, November 23 to 26 – On Thanksgiving weekend, Stratton will celebrate the beginning of ski season, the mountain’s fiftieth birthday and the Thanksgiving tradition. Opening day is planned for November 23! Come to ski, stay to play at great events including the Gobble Gobble Wobble 5K Fun Run, A Tyrolean Evening with the Stratton Mountain Boys, a block party and Rail Jam in the Village, and a fireworks spectacular.

Full Moon Snowshoe Hike, December 10 – The trail system at the Sun Bowl Adventure Center features classic New England terrain for beginners and experts. We will end our hike back at the campfire with s’mores and hot chocolate. Also January 7, February 4, and March 18.

Snowboard Celebration Week, December 10 to 18 – Head up to the birthplace of snowboarding as we celebrate the sport, the launch of Burton’s pilot program, Experience Snowboarding, and the 30th anniversary of the US Open. A week of on-snow demos, clinics with pros and movies will kick off December 10 with a moonlight hike up Suntanner – just as Jake Burton did when he was developing his first snowboard.

Tree Lighting and 50th Dedication, December 17 – Join Stratton for the annual tree lighting ceremony, eggnog and caroling optional. We’ll fill the night with sparkling lights and the voices of the Blue Moon Carolers.

Stratton’s Birthday Bash, December 23 – Turning 50 isn’t so bad if you do it with cake and champagne! Help make Stratton’s golden anniversary sweet.

Cold Wars Rail Jam, December 29 – Open to amateur skiers and riders who want to show the world what they’ve got, these contests will be held under the lights of Tyrolienne. Compete for respect, recognition, prizes and cash. Also held February 25.

New Year’s Eve Celebration and Fireworks, December 31 – From 6 pm to 10 pm the base area will be New Year’s Eve Central with fireworks, a torchlight parade, fun family activities, live music and much more!
