TANNERSVILLE, PA – Snow is on the horizon as Camelback Mountain Resort lies in the heaviest snow-bands during tonight’s winter storm advisory. By noon tomorrow Camelback will be blanketed with up to 10 inches of snow. “Looks like some very cold weather on the backside of this system especially at night, so we’ll be making snow at every opportunity starting Thursday evening and right through to the Christmas Holiday”, say Brian Czarnecki, VP of Sales & Marketing at Camelback.

Camelback Mountain Resort is so much more than just snow. It takes a lot of work to transition Camelbeach, the largest waterpark in Pa and NJ, into Camelback, the largest winter ski/snowboard resorts in the state. The day after Labor Day, we remove 128 palm trees, 2000 lounge chairs and drain 800,000 gallons of water that make up Camelbeach so we can begin filling the lazy river with three thousand 50 gallon drums. The lazy river is drained and filled with the 50 gallon drums and then covered with wood platforms and is magically turned into the base area for the ski area. This process takes about six weeks to completely prepare the area for snowmaking.

“We have continued to build our snowmaking arsenal over the past several years to the point of being able to cover the entire mountain is almost half of the time that it used to take,” said Bill Toye, Vice President of Mountain Operations at Camelback Mountain Resort. Toye continued, “Our team does an amazing job transitioning Camelbeach into the ski area and back.”

SnowEast Magazine Readers’ Survey voted Camelback Mountain Resort the favorite resort in Pennsylvania. There are 34 trails, ranging from beginners to double black diamonds with 100% of the trails open for night skiing. Camelback is continuing on the cutting edge by adding a 50′ x 50′ airbag that tops out at 12 feet tall….just like stunt persons use in Hollywood films. Guests of all abilities can ski and board downhill, hit a jump and try any trick seen at the X Games and land safely and softly!

Always true to its name and mission, Camelback Mountain Resort, ensures action, adventure and excitement 365 days a year.
