SnowMont promoters cancel event, NOR’BEASTER line-up to go on as planned

Rail jams, moguls, music, pond skimming on tap

KILLINGTON, Vt. (March 15, 2012) – Killington Resort is disheartened to learn that the SnowMont Music Festival promoters have cancelled the event, scheduled at Killington March 30 – April 1, due to low ticket sales. “We are disappointed for our loyal customers who planned to come to the event and partake in our new spring-time celebration under the NOR’BEASTER event brand,” said Rob Megnin, Director of Marketing, Sales and Reservations. For those fans interested in seeing Snoop Dogg, he will still be coming to Killington, playing at the Pickle Barrel Nightclub on March 31.

If any guest has previously purchased tickets for the festival, they can expect a full refund of their original purchase price within seven to 10 business days, from the SnowMont promoters. Refunds are automatic, so there is no need to do anything else. For more information please go to:

NOR’BEASTER, March 23 – April 1
Killington Resort kicks off the spring season with a ten-day event set to include the Tweed Winter Carnival, Monster Energy’s K-Town Showdown, The Hibernation and The Bud Light Intergalactic Pond Skimming Championships along with spring skiing and riding. Tweed Winter Carnival, March 23-24
Pico Mountain teams up with Tweed River Productions to kick off NOR’BEASTER with the first ever Tweed Winter Carnival. This three-day music festival will feature Americana Roots-style music including bluegrass, rock and folk from local New England bands including Bow Thayer, Perfect Trainwreck, Waylon Speed and Pistol Whipped as well as a variety of family activities.

Ski Vermont Specialty Food Days, Pico Mountain, Saturday, March 24, 2012; Killington Mountain, Sunday, March 25, 2012

Vermont Ski Areas Association, the Agency of Agriculture and the Vermont Maple Foundation have once again teamed up to promote Vermont specialty foods at resorts this winter by offering skiers and riders samples of a variety of treats at Ski Vermont Specialty Food Days.

Well-established local specialties include Vermont maple syrup, Cabot’s award-winning cheddar cheese, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Westminster gourmet crackers, and Green Mountain Coffee’s organic house blend. Additionally, smaller Vermont specialty food producers will join the sampling events to showcase their assortment of products in Ski Vermont’s farm to plate program.

Monster Energy’s K-Town Showdown Slopestyle Competition, March 24
The final event of the 2011-12 Monster Energy K-Town Showdown Series will wrap up with a slopestyle competition at Bear Mountain’s Under Armour MTN Dream Maker Terrain Park. Open to both skiers and riders of all ages and ability levels, the event features prizes for top finishers.

The Hibernation, March 31-April 1
To celebrate Bear Mountain’s last weekend of the season, freeskiers and riders are invited to join the final party with SHRED SESSIONS on March 31 at The Stash and Under Armour MTN Dream Maker Terrain Park. Participants will enjoy music and prizes throughout the day. Additionally, Hot Dogs for Hope, a BBQ fundraiser, will take place in The Stash to benefit the Rutland Humane Society. Air, Metal & Mayhem, a superpipe and rail jam competition, will wrap up the final day at Bear for the 2011-12 season. Online pre-registration will open on March 19 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Bud Light Intergalactic Pond Skimming Championships, April 1st / NOTE: Date Change
Killington Resort tops off the 2011-12 event season with the Bud Light Intergalactic Pond Skimming Championships. 100 of the bravest (and craziest) skiers and riders will attempt to skim across a giant pond of ice cold water. Competitors will be judged on skim technique, costume and best splash.

Freestyle Frenzy, April 7
Killington Resort introduces Freestyle Frenzy, an all-new mogul event, to the spring event lineup. Open to skiers of all ages, the event will feature single and dual runs on Lower Superstar with prizes awarded to top finishers in each category. Online pre-registration is open, and all proceeds will benefit the Killington Mountain School’s (KMS) freestyle program, including scholarships and other program costs.
