VERNON, New Jersey ??” Lindsey Jacobellis (Stratton, VT) continued her unprecedented multi-discipline snowboard domination with a halfpipe win at the Chevrolet U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix in Jersey – a win that clinched Jacobellis the overall Grand Prix title. The title earned her a brand new Chevy Colorado to add to the growing fleet of vehicles in her garage (she won a Jeep at X GAems the previous week). Elijah Teter (Belmont, VT) took the men’s halfpipe contest and Ross Powers captured the men’s overall title and won the Chevy Colorado.

“I had a seven in my first run. I was trying for the nine, so I was a little discouraged,” said Jacobellis, who also won the halfpipe event at the Mt. Bachelor Grand Prix. ” I just wanted to focus on getting the nine, focus on the progressive side of snowboarding and not worry about the scores. I did really well and stomped the nine on my second run,” said Jacobellis. “Everyone loves the pipe and the lights at night. It adds a whole new energy to the competition.”

On the men’s side, high school senior Michael Goldschmidt (Bondville,VT) led the first run. He was overtaken by what sometimes feels like genetic destiny: a member of the Teter family – Elijah to be exact. “I am so excited to land a run,” said Teter, whose older brother Abe and younger sister Hannah were also in the finals. “It was such a fun contest. I’m so happy right now to put it all together. I did a backside five, seven to seven, an ally oop mctwist and a backside nine,” said a rightfully ecstatic Teter. About the money, he added, “I needed it. I owe my sister a bunch of money and will pay rent and travel. That will about take care of it!”

“We are super psyched, it was awesome day,” said U.S. Snowboarding head halfpipe coach Bud Keene. “Lindsey and Elijah killed it. It’s so inspiring. It’s been since Bardonecchia, Italy, at the Olympic Venue last year that Elijah’s been on the podium. (He was third at the 2003 event.) Lindsey was great. Her nine was huge and stomped. She’s amazing.”

Olympian Kelly Clark (Mount Snow, VT) took the second-place spot followed by Junko Asazuma (Japan) in the women’s halfpipe. Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) came in second for the men, with Pennsylvania’s Keir Dillon placing third.

In the Paul Mitchell Progression Session on Saturday, Grenade’s Mark Reilly won the men’s slopestyle competition, followed by two Burton riders, Wyatt Caldwell and Kevin Pearce. For the women, Boost’s Jaime MacLeod won the trophy, followed by Mary Sallah and local Highland Lakes high schooler, Elise Fugowski in third. Once again, Fugowski had to decline her prize money due to New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association rules.

In the Junior Jam, 12-year-old Broc Waring took top honors, followed by Spencer Shaw (age 11) and Tucker Driml.
