A Whole Lotta Barking Going on at Belleayre Mountain
HIGHMOUNT, New York ??” There was plenty of woofin and waggin going on at Belleayre Mountain on Sunday February 13. Belleayre held its first Save a Pet Donation Sunday in conjunction with the Humane Society of Central Delaware County. Guests coming to Belleayre were encouraged to bring items to donate to the Humane Society in exchange for a discounted lift ticket.
As usual the riders and skiers came through with flying colors and donated mountains of goodies and supplies for the Humane Society and its furry friends. The Humane Society and its guardian angel volunteers were at the mountain in force with their charges. There were four dogs for adoption in the lower Discovery Lodge, and three dogs and two cats for adoption in the upper Overlook lodge. A great day was had by everyone especially those of the four legged variety, who had a day out to strut their stuff and show everyone why they should have a forever home. By the end of the day, the volunteers were carrying armfuls of donations out to waiting vehicles, skiers and riders were heading home, and our fuzzy friends were pooped out and ready for a nap, knowing that during the day most of them had found a new home. At last count five of the seven dogs were spoken for and one of the two cats were going gome with its new family.
Belleayre Mountain would like to thank everyone who donated items to support the Humane Society who work endless hours to make sure that every cat and dog is loved and taken care of while they await their new life with their new family. Belleayre would also like to thank The Humane Society of Central Delaware County for doing what they do, and doing it so well. If anyone missed Save a Pet Donation Day, the Humane Society will happily take your donations at anytime of the year. You can call ahead at 607-746-3080 or just stop by. Their hours of operation are Tuesday thru Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. There are still plenty of friends waiting for you to take them home.
