AASI Releases First Adaptive Snowboard Guide
February 17, 2012 – Lakewood, CO – The AASI Adaptive Snowboard Guide serves as a discipline-specific resource for adaptive instructors, presenting a diverse and creative collection of crossover teaching techniques, represented by an array of talented instructors. The guide greatly increases and advances the possibilities and options for adaptive students to find success as snowboarders.
The American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) is pleased to announce the release of the AASI Adaptive Snowboard Guide. “Through our discussions with adaptive programs and organizations across the country, we recognize the need for more discipline-specific adaptive materials as the participation in adaptive snowsports continues to grow,” said Earl Saline, PSIA-AASI Professional Development Manager. “This guide represents a great step toward our goal to continue to improve and expand education resources for adaptive snowports programs and participants.”
Adding to the growing online education resources provided by PSIA-AASI, the AASI Adaptive Snowboard Guide is a complimentary piece that is available for download to any snowsports program or snowsports instructor that is interested. The link to this innovative curriculum piece can be accessed via TheSnowPros.org by selecting the ‘Snow Day’ tab, clicking ‘Adaptive’, then selecting ‘Education Resources’.
“Our goal in professional development is to increase the scope and breadth of the instructional aides and informational material for our members,” said Erika Jones, PSIA-AASI Education Program Specialist. “By continuing to release new and innovative educational resources for no cost, we work toward our goal to provide expanded learning opportunities for PSIA-AASI members.”
