HIGHMOUNT, New York — For those looking to get away for Martin Luther King weekend, Belleayre Mountain is chock full of planned events – not to mention the great snow conditions. This Saturday, January 19th, Belleayre’s annual Coalition Cup Race will take place. The Coalition Cup gets its name from years ago when Belleayre Mountain was on the verge of closing its doors. It was the “Coalition to Save Belleayre” that saved the mountain. Thank you Coalition for all your efforts and for giving us the superb skiing and riding we have today. For those participating in the Coalition Cup Race, Belleayre will take $10 off your full price lift ticket. The race is open to all skiers and snowboarders. Race entry fee is $10 and helmets are required. Registration will be in the Overlook Lodge from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. The race begins at 10:00 AM with awards at 3:00 PM.

If you’ve ever wanted to be James Bond, Belleayre has the perfect thing for you; it’s called “Slope Spies”. Sponsored by Clear Channel of the Hudson Valley, Slope Spies is a returning popular event to Belleayre. When you register for Slope Spies, you’ll be given a bright blue lift ticket to wear (in addition to your Belleayre lift ticket). The Slope Spies will be out on the mountain looking for those bright blue tickets. Watch out for the spies who might be skiing, hiding in the woods or perhaps looking through their telescopic ski poles. When they “spy” you, they’ll send you back to registration to claim a prize. Prizes are fantastic and the cost to play the game is free. To sign up for the Slope Spies event this Saturday, January 19th, you must register in the Garden Room of the Overlook Lodge between 9 AM – 11 AM same day as the event.

This weekend, both Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th, Belleayre Mountain will be hosting their annual Consumer Demo Day. Reps from Atomic, Elan and Dynastar will be in front of the Overlook Lodge with their vans full of this season’s newest equipment for you to try out. To take their skis out for a test spin, you first must sign up in the Garden Room of the Overlook Lodge. The cost is free and you’ll get a chance to “test drive” the newest technology.

Belleayre Mountain is a year-round Recreation Area in the Catskill Mountains operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
