Budweiser Clydesdales, SI for Kids Next Snow Search Highlight MLK Weekend at Killington

KILLINGTON, Vermont ??” The world famous Budweiser Clydesdales and the Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow Search Qualifier provide entertainment and enjoyment for the entire family this Martin Luther King holiday weekend, January 14-16.

The Budweiser Clydesdales eight-horse hitch will make daily appearances at Killington Resort on Friday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 16 Jan. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at locations including Snowshed, The Wobbly Barn, Killington Grand Resort Hotel and select establishments along Killington Road. There will be photo opportunities with the horses throughout the weekend, check www.killington.com for a detailed schedule of appearances.

On Monday Jan. 16, the Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow Search Qualifier will feature the area’s best park and pipe skiers and riders ages 9-13 competing for an opportunity to advance to the Next Snow SEARCH National Finals March 3-5 also hosted at Killington. The SEARCH is the first all-around and all-mountain competition, providing kids the opportunity to make the Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow Team. The Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow SEARCH is not just a competition though. Style, attitude, and personality count as well as all-round skiing and riding ability, which makes the competition as much fun to watch, as it is to participate in!

“Martin Luther King weekend is going to be jam packed with activities at Killington for the entire family,” said Josh Arneson, events manager for Killington Resort. “Along with the Budweiser Clydesdales and the Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow Team Qualifier, we have had an exceptional season so far in terms of snow conditions and we are anticipating having the vast majority of our terrain open at Killington, including the Wildfire terrain park at Bear Mountain.”

The Sports Illustrated For Kids Next Snow Search Qualifier kicks off with an ice cream and movie party at the Bear Mountain Lodge on Sunday, Jan. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is open online at www.killington.com. The competition will feature rails, slopestyle and Superpipe. Free pizza will be provided after the competition for all athletes followed by the announcement of the overall winners and prize raffle.
