Burke Mountain Accepts Two Awards at NSAA National Convention
Sustainable Slopes & Marketing Awards Received
EAST BURKE, VERMONT (May 11, 2012) – Burke Mountain was recently awarded two awards at the NSAA (National Ski Areas Association) National Conference in San Antonio, Texas May 6-9, 2012. The first, a Sustainable Slopes Grant, was awarded to Burke Mountain for its green efforts, including the installation of our new wind turbine last summer and our new composting program that was implemented this winter in partnership with the Highfields Center for Composting. The mountain was awarded a grant for 5 new high efficiency HKD snow gun, with a total value of $40, 000, and an energy audit with Bendle Group, a Colorado-based sustainability engineering firm, a total value of $10,000. Burke was also selected for the NSAA Marketing Award for Best Traditional Media. The Burke Mountain marketing team submitted an application to the NSAA judging panel with samples of 2011/12 winter season marketing efforts that included billboard, print, and radio ad campaigns. Burke Mountain won the award over 19 other North American Resort finalists.
