Corn Snow and Sunny Days Return to Sugarbush

WARREN, Vermont — Ah, spring time. Corn snow. Sunny days. And people in chicken suits riding snowboards across a near-freezing body of water. Spring swings into full gear at Sugarbush this weekend with the wettest of snow sports??”pond skimming??”and the second annual Mogul Logic Ski Camp with U.S. Freestyle Champion David Babic.

Pond Skimming and Reggae Fest, annual vernal rites of passage at the ‘Bush, will be held this Saturday just above the new Lincoln Peak Village and are scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m. Registration for Skimming will be from 8-10 a.m. in the Valley House lodge. Budding Evel Knievel’s are invited to strap on a pair of skis or a snowboard and attempt to rocket across the 38-degree pond. Costumes are encouraged.

Anyone looking for drier pursuits can soak up the island vibes of * Reggae Fest. The band will start floating tunes around the noon hour on the patio outside of the Castlerock Pub. If the weather turns foul, the celebrations will move indoors.

World Cup competitor and 2006 U.S. Freestyle Champion David Babic will be at Sugarbush all weekend for his second annual Mogul Logic East Coast Ski Camp This rare opportunity to be coached by one of the world’s most experienced mogul competitors/coaches is open to every level of skier and begins Saturday at Mt. Ellen. Participants will receive personalized coaching, and video analysis if they choose, from World Cup mogul skiers. Mogul skiing technique and style will be broken down over the two days and skiers will have the opportunity to work on personal wants. Want to learn a new aerial trick? A specially-designed jump site will be manicured to help participants learn progressive aerial maneuvers in a safe and controlled environment.
