Country Rocker Chris Isaak Plays Labor Day Weekend at Belleayre
HIGHMOUNT, New York — Chris Isaak will bring his unique blend of rock, country and pop tunes to the Belleayre Music Festival stage on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m.
Isaak’s smooth, haunting vocal style has propelled songs such as “Wicked Game” and “Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing,” to the top of the charts. Over the course of nine albums, he has produced a dozen hit singles.
In the mid-1980s, as his singing career was taking off, Isaak also began to explore the acting world, appearing in films such as “Married to the Mob,” “Wild at Heart,” “The Silence of the Lambs” and “A Dirty Shame,” as well as his own critically-acclaimed television series on the Showtime network, “The Chris Isaak Show.”
Isaak started performing with a band called Silvertone and group’s first album was released in 1985. Isaak followed that album two years later with a self-titled release.
His third album, “Heart Shaped World,” was released in 1989. The album began racing up the charts the following year when the track “Wicked Game,” was featured in the film “Wild at Heart.” Shortly thereafter, both the track and the album became Top Ten hits. The “Wicked Game” music video was directed by Herb Ritts and was a big MTV and VH1 hit; shot in black and white, it starred Isaak and Danish supermodel Helena Christensen.
Isaak followed the album with “San Francisco Days” in 1993 and “Forever Blue” in 1995, both of which went gold. “Forever Blue” featured “Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing,” which was later featured in Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 film, “Eyes Wide Shut.”
His Belleayre show, which closes out the summer season, promises to a rocking event, propelled by Isaak’s unmistakable vocals and his top-notch band.
