BENNINGTON, New Hampshire ??” Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride anticipates the start of snowmaking operations during the night between Thursday 11/17 and Friday 11/18. Despite recent rain and warmer temps, colder weather is expected to arrive Thursday and set the stage for skiers & riders to possibly hit the slopes as early as Thanksgiving weekend.

Crotched Mountain is home to a state-of-the-art snowmaking system with the highest density of snow production capacity per skiable acre of any ski area in New England. Boasting 100% coverage by energy efficient fan gun technology, crews are able to make a considerable amount of snow in a short amount of time, as long as Mother Nature cooperates.

Snow produced from systems using fan gun technology more closely resembles natural snow, and gives better early season snow conditions than most skiers/riders expect.

“Imagine opening weekend with really good snow conditions. It’s not really a dream,” said Felix Kagi, General Manger at Crotched.

With snow guns ready to blaze, and the largest pump capacity per acre in New England, Crotched Mountain is ready to give a green-light on the new season in Southern New Hampshire.
