Events and Activities Roll on Long After The Snow Melts at Killington Resort

Killington Resort will host a full line up of events and activities through foliage season

KILLINGTON, Vt. (June 29, 2011) – Vermont’s Killington Resort welcomes summer with a full line up of events and activities including mountain biking , hiking , Alpine Slides, climbing walls, the Pico Power Jump, mini golf, guided horseback trail rides and new this summer, disc golf at the Pico Mountain Adventure Center , open daily starting July 1.

The Resort has been working in conjunction with the Town of Killington to provide events for adventure seekers, music fans, families as well as wine and beer enthusiasts.

Killington Music Festival, Saturdays, July 2-August 6
Now in its 29th season, the Killington Music Festival is the only resident professional classical music organization in central Vermont. Each summer about 100 students gather at Killington from prestigious music institutions such as the Juilliard School of Music, Boston Conservatory, to provide classical music concerts each Saturday evening at Ramshead Lodge.

10th Annual Killington Wine Festival, July 22-24
The Killington Wine Festival will present more than 400 wines from around the world for three days of wine tasting events including tasting dinners, Nine and Wine Golf, a Bubbly Champagne Brunch as well as the Grand Tasting, taking place under a large tent at the base of Killington Mountain.

“It’s Cooler In The Mountains”, Free Concert Series, Saturdays, July 23-August 27
Top bands from around the country will be taking the outdoor stage for six free shows this summer at K-1 Lodge at the base of Killington Peak every Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Plus Reverb , a non-profit environmental organization, will be educating concertgoers on ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

Eastern States Cup, July 30-31, 2011
The Eastern States Cup , a downhill mountain bike race series, makes its seventh stop of ten at Killington Resort. Riders will face off at multiple mountains across the Northeast with the final race wrapping up in October.

Spartan Beast Race, August 6
The Spartan Beast Race is a timed, 10+ mile course that takes competitors around Killington Resort where they will face military-style obstacles along the way, including an eight foot wall, slippery incline wall, cargo net climb, barbed wire crawl, water obstacles, mud crawl, spear throw, fire jump and gladiator pit.

Gravity East Series, August 13-14
The Gravity East Series , downhill mountain bike race, returns to Killington Resort for its fifth stop of this eight race series. Top riders will battle it out for the $5,000 purse in challenging downhill races along the East Coast.

Septemberfest, September 24
Enjoy activities for the entire family including a Diaper Derby, Haystack Treasure Hunt, pumpkin carving, a BBQ as well as beautiful fall foliage at Pico Mountain’s Septemberfest . Plus, the Long Trail Brewery will be pouring their tasty, local craft beers while guests listen to live music.

Killington Brewfest, October 1
The Killington Brewfest is a celebration of the Northeast’s finest craft beers. Come wet your whistle at the base of 4,241′ Killington Peak during the pinnacle of autumn foliage. Festival goers will enjoy live music, a variety of delicious food and over 70 of the finest craft beers that the region has to offer.

2011 DockDogs National Championships, October 7-9
Over 300 pro and amateur teams from around the country will compete at Killington Resort for three days at the Snowshed Lodge. Dogs will jump for distance and height as well as compete in speed retrieve to see who will take home the 2011 title.
