LUDLOW, Vermont ??” In its tenth annual rankings of America’s best golf courses, Golfweek named Okemo Valley Golf Club the best public-access course in Vermont.

The March 11 issue of Golfweek listed the top 100 classic courses, the top 100 modern courses and a state-by-state listing of the best public-access courses.

“It’s not just the exclusive private clubs we honor for their architecture,” writes Golfweek in its “Our Opinion” column. “Sure, there’s something sacred about the holes at ultra-private clubs like Cypress Point (No. 1 Classic) and Sand Hills (No. 1 Modern). But a vast majority of the country’s golfers play on daily-fee, publicly accessible layouts. ????В¦our state-by-state list reveals no shortage of wonderful, challenging and beautiful places for everyday golfers.”

Okemo Valley Golf Club is Vermont’s first Heathland-style golf course and was specifically designed according to the traditions of the game. The championship 18-hole golf resort features a gracious full-service clubhouse, golf academy center, indoor practice facility, 18-acre state-of-the-art outdoor training center, fully stocked pro shop and an entire fleet of Yamaha electric carts. The course features a fully computerized Toro irrigation system. The layout is a par 70 that measures 6,400 yards in length and features bent grass greens, tees and fairways with multiple tee areas on each hole, ensuring playability and challenge for all ability levels. Rolling hills, moderate elevation changes and wide fairways with well-placed hazards enhance the Heathland layout.
