Gunstock to Host Premiere Ski Race for Disabled Skiers
GILFORD, New Hampshire — Gunstock ADAPTIVE Learning Center is proud to host the second event of the 2010 Diana Golden Cup race series on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010.
Honoring disabled champion Diana Golden, named Golden Cup “US Skier of the Year” by Ski Magazine and a member of the US National Ski Hall of Fame, the nationwide program introduces, encourages, and promotes ski racing for disabled skiers of all ages, abilities, and expertise, Prior racing experience is neither expected nor required.
The goal of the Golden Cup series is to offer disabled skiers entry-level competition as well as opportunities to improve technique and enhance confidence. In order to make the racing competitive between people with varying abilities and disabilities, each participant’s finish times are “factored” according to the racer’s disability classification.
USSA points are not awarded in this series and a USSA (US Ski Assoc.) competitor’s license is not required. Helmets must be worn by all racers.
Registration begins at 8:00 AM at the Adaptive Sports Center, and the $45.00 fee includes lunch and an all-day lift ticket. Lunch will be a BBQ Hamburgers and Hotdogs at 12 followed by the famous Gunstock Smore’s dessert.
