WILMINGTON, NY ??” Jeannie Thoren is slated to return to Whiteface Mountain with the ski industry’s best supply of women’s skis, boots and accessories for free demo days on December 28 and 29, the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announced Monday.

Thoren, one of the top 25 most influential people in skiing, has earned her renowned name by drastically improving women’s technique through equipment selection and modification. She has spent the last 30 years researching the way women ski and firmly believes that the weak link in women’s skiing is usually related to equipment.

The free demo days are a modified version of the Jeannie Thoren Women’s Clinic, which has been a huge success at Whiteface in winters past.

“In the past we were only able to reach out to 20 women in the Jeannie Thoren Women’s Clinic. Now, with these two free demo days, it opens the experience up to all of the women on the mountain,” said Bridget Hinman, Whiteface Mountain Marketing Manager and two-time Jeannie Thoren Women’s Clinic participant.

The Jeannie Thoren demo days will allow women to try out the latest equipment, developed specifically for women, from a wide variety of manufacturers. Participants will also learn about boot fitting. Inside Edge, a division of Reliable Racing supply is the host shop for the two-day event.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for women skiers to expand their horizons in the sport and try the latest gear that will definitely improve their experience on the mountain,” said Doug Baehm, the hard goods buyer for Inside Edge.

The Jeannie Thoren demo tent will be set-up next to the Facelift. Women are invited to test out new equipment from 8:30 am to 4 pm each day. There is no pre-registration and equipment will be loaned out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
