Killington’s 6,168-Yard Golf Resort Offers Challenge, Picturesque Mountain Terrain
KILLINGTON, Vermont ??” Regardless of skill level or handicap, the breathtaking panoramas, gentle mountain breezes and all 18 holes of the Killington Golf Resort combine to offer a refreshing round for any golfer. The championship course is scheduled to open for the season May 5 and will remain open through peak foliage season during October. The Mountain Golf School at Killington will open May 31.
Renowned golf course architect Geoffrey Cornish developed Killington’s 18 holes to test players of all abilities. The mountainous terrain of the par-72 course challenges even the most polished of players, while allowing novices to enjoy a unique course in a beautiful alpine setting. Indeed, the cool summer breezes at 2,000-foot altitude produce optimal playing temperatures and ensure a spectacular round that demands a return.
Killington’s 6,168-yard course features generous greens, tree-lined fairways and the Roaring Brook that comes into play on eight holes. Additionally, three more holes feature water hazards, while challenging bunkers surround 15 of the 18 greens. Three par-5s are showcased on the front nine, including the 510-yard 2nd hole, the longest on the course.
The golf training facility at Killington is available to fine tune every aspect of the game, featuring a 12,000-square foot practice putting green, 18-station driving range, pitching and chipping areas and practice sand bunkers.
In addition, the Killington Region features 15 courses within an hour’s drive, offering golfers the option of playing at a different golf course every day, including Green Mountain National Golf Course, Proctor-Pittsford Country Club and the Rutland Country Club.
