Loon Mountain Offers an Endless Summer of Fun Beginning June 23

LINCOLN, New Hampshire — As New Hampshire begins to melt into spring and the landscape lights up with vibrant greens, Loon Mountain will kick off its 2007 summer season Saturday, June 23. A special sneak peek weekend is scheduled for June 15 ??“ 17. Loon offers a full range of summer and fall events, activities and spectacular scenery that will keep visitors coming back all season long.

Coinciding with the Laconia Motorcycle Week, Loon’s June 15-17 sneak peek weekend will offer bikers and outdoor enthusiasts the perfect location to get away from the crowds and enjoy an early taste of summer fun. The Gondola Skyride, Summit Caf?В©, observation tower, glacial caves and playground will all be open that weekend.

The resort re-opens for daily summer operations on Saturday, June 23. The beauty of Loon and the surrounding area, is best viewed by a ride up the four-person Gondola Skyride. Guests climb to new adventures in 14 minutes on New Hampshire’s longest aerial lift, traveling 7,000 feet. From the summit, visitors are exposed to breathtaking views of the White Mountains and can explore the captivating natural glacial caves, hit the playground, hike the nature trail, climb the observation tower for stunning 360-degree views or enjoy a taste of Jamaica at the Summit Caf?В©.

Skyrides are available daily from 9:30 a.m. ??“ 5:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the Gift Shop in the Gondola Barn. Prices are $13 for adults, $8 juniors (6 ??“ 12), $11 seniors (65 +) and free for children under 5. 2007 ??“ 2008 Threedom Passholders also ride for free. Kids can find lost Loon gold by obtaining a treasure map from the gift shop and navigating on an adventurous expedition to the pot of gold hidden in the glacial caves.

At the base of the resort, the Adventure Center offers many ways to get out and enjoy the warm summer days with bike rentals, bike tours and the climbing walls. The Adventure Center is a full-service bike center offering rentals, repairs, sales, and info on area rides. The popular Franconia Notch Bike Tour is a self-guided daily tour that leaves Loon at 10:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m., with shuttle service to Echo Lake in Franconia Notch. Bikers then ride 13 miles along a paved trail back to Loon. Franconia Notch Bike Tours cost $12 without bike rental and $27 with bike rental for juniors and $17 without bike rental and $32 with bike rental for adults. Mountain bikes are available for two-hour, four-hour or full-day rentals and start at $17 for juniors, and $20 for adults for two hours.

Climbing to new heights at Loon has never been easier. An indoor and outdoor rock climbing wall provides a fun challenge for kids and adults. Harnesses, ropes and a knowledgeable staff is provided. Climbing rates are $7 per climb or $12 for two climbs.

Loon hosts many exciting summer events like: Mini’s On Top, June 16; Hot Dog Festival, June 30; XTERRA Trail Run, July 8; Ice Cream Festival, August 4; Labor Day Weekend Family Fest, September 1 – 2; Annual Highland Games, September 20 ??“ 22; and Oktoberfest ends the season, October 6 ??“ 7.
