Loon to Host Dave Carr Ski-a-thon Feb. 11
LINCOLN, New Hampshire ??” The Loon Mountain Ski Patrol Ambassadors are paying their respects to a great man on Saturday, February 11, 2005 with the Dave Carr Ski-A-Thon. Skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate and help raise money.
The donations that participants solicit from friends, family, co-workers and businesses will benefit the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, www.camneelyfoundation.org, which runs the Neely House at Tufts-New England Medical Center and the Neely Cancer Fund. The Neely House is a bed and breakfast style “home away from home” for cancer patients and their families. It was created to fill an important need – to help pediatric and adult cancer patients and their families while undergoing treatment.
Ski-a-Thon participants will register between 8:00 and 10:00 AM in the Octagon Lodge, receive a special reduced rate lift ticket and ski or snowboard till 4:00 PM. According to Skip Schwarz, one of the event’s organizers, “Participants will be given the opportunity of raising funds by taking trips down the lower part of Lower Walking Boss, Dave’s favorite Trail. Participants will then meet at the Season’s Restaurant at the Mountain Club on Loon, located in the slope side Hotel next to the Octagon base lodge to enjoy a reception with complimentary refreshments.”
A raffle that includes a Threedom Pass valid at Loon Mountain, Waterville Valley and Cranmore Mountain Resort, as well as other donated prizes will be conducted.
