JAY, Vermont — This will mark the 7th year Jay Peak has celebrated its now legendary Mountain Mardi Gras. The week-long event includes authentic Cajun and New Orleans style lunch and dinner specials prepared by New Orleans Chef Mark Uddo and Jay Peak Food Service. Live music will be served up by local bands including Viscus, The Funkleberries, and Tammy Fletcher & The Disciples and lots of on-mountain fun like scavenger hunts and snow sculpture contests.

New this year, the Resort will also be hosting a fundraising dinner on Wednesday, February 25th for Green Mountain Farm-to- School, a hands-on school and community garden program that provides agriculture and nutrition education for Vermont schools in the region. The menu will include New Orleans inspired fare prepared with local Vermont products. Tickets are $50 in advance, $75 at the door and you can purchase by contacting Jay Peak Customer Service (802.327.2289, customerservice@jaypeakresort.com). The evening will include local wine, beer and appetizers from 5:30-6:30pm followed by dinner and music by Cam Cross. Go to jaypeakresort.com for more details and to read the full tantalizing menu.

“The event gets better and better every year,” said Jake Webster, VP of Real Estate Development for the Resort and founder of Jay Peak’s Mountain Mardi Gras. “We’re really excited about the addition of the Green Mountain Farm-to-School fundraising dinner this year. It feels good to support a local, worthwhile cause and GMFTS fits perfectly with Mardi Gras week’s theme of good food and fun, as well as Jay Peak’s year around commitment to community, agriculture, education, and health.”

Most all events are free admission and all are welcome to stop in for a day, apr??s-ski, or spend the week. Those looking for a week-long getaway can take advantage of our Mardi Gras lodging specials from $125 pp/pn for a 5-night stay in our 2-bedroom Slopeside condominiums. Call Jay Peak Reservations at 800-451-4449 (802-988-2611 in VT) for more info on this and other Mardi Gras lodging specials.

Of course, the skiing and riding probably won’t be too bad come end of February either. Jay Peak typically sees nearly 80″ of snow throughout the month of February and picked up 20″ of new snow during the same week last season.
