New Facilities and Programs for Children, Teens and Families at Smuggs

SMUGGLERS’ NOTCH, Vermont ??” A Skateboard Park is the top added feature for 2006. Enthusiasts will approve of the modular features that accommodate bikes, skates, and skateboards. Trick elements will have broad appeal to beginner and intermediate users with a few elements available for experts. Instruction, 3-day camp for 10-17 year olds, and an adult program will be available, also rentals and safety equipment.

New Trail Blazers Camp is created for five and six year olds. This age group has been singled out from younger and older children to give them age appropriate activities for growth and exploration and fun with kids their own age. Trail Blazers day camp is open daily and is included in the FamilyFest Vacation package.

SOUND & STAGE
This summer, an acting component is added to Sound & Stage in the Adventure Rangers
(ages 7-10) and Notch Squad (11-15) kids’ camps. Last summer children could choose Sound & Stage to get involved in songwriting, singing and dancing. This summer playacting hits the scene. Other mid-week options for the youngsters are Adventure & Games, Nature & Hiking, and Arts & Crafts.

TEEN EVENTS
Two new teen events guarantee fun and attendance this summer. Thursdays a special teen-focused show by an illusionist is the big event; on Fridays and Saturdays teens form teams for a Dodgeball Tourney on the basketball courts, complete with referee, and winner’s circle prizes.

VIA FERRATA
Via Ferrata engineered hike for families debuts as new adventure sport. A footpath that uses cables, ladders and suspensions to allow surmounting difficult sections is an “iron way” where no special skills are required. Smugglers’ family version will provide lots of thrills yet be easy to maneuver. Adult and family sessions available weekly.

NORDIC WALKING
Nordic Walking will be presented in the summer Stretch & Go series. Highly subscribed as a winter activity, the summer version will also employ poles to assist in stability and a vigorous forward stepping workout. Guides lead guests in fitness walking Tuesdays and Thursdays.

SMUGSS HUGS
Smuggs Hugs is for moms and dads and the under three crowd. Every Tuesday for a morning hour youngsters and their parents gather to make new friends, get involved in craft projects and music making, learn about infant sign language, discuss toddler topics and learn about other programs at the Resort designed specifically for this age segment.

NEW HEALTH & WELLNESS OFFERINGS
Guests can learn how to meditate in the new Exploring Meditation workshop; make up dream catchers, herbal dream pillows and sleep balm in Take Me to Dreamland; try their first class or simply practice with Introduction to Pilates; and turn sweets into truffle bath melts, lip balms and confections in Chocolate Delights.

Beaver Meadow Hike and the High Peak Tour join the walk/wike/hike offerings as hikes number 22 and 23 this season. The Beaver Meadow Hike explores waterfalls and beaver ponds in off trail environments. For the challenging Peaks tour the hiking guide chooses one of the summits in the Mansfield or Sterling ranges more difficult to attain.

VACTION PACKAGES
Father’s Day Celebration from June 9-22 offers new special bonuses for vacationers. For stays of five nights or longer, dads and granddads receive a free $100 sport shop gift certificate and a Cabot Creamery arrival gift. In addition, they can maintain their hero status by treating their entire family to a Vermont-style dinner and tender their littlest to Treasures child care. A breakfast buffet (on Father’s Day or another day) awaits dad or granddad too. These are all free bonus specials included in the Father’s Day Celebration package.

FREE CHILD CARE AT TREASURES NURSERY
From June 9-22, little ones 6 weeks to 3 years old are invited to enjoy the dynamic child care center for free, a $66 per day value. This gives their folks a chance to enjoy all the Smugglers’ activities and time together they have been seeking. The million-dollar, state-of-the-art Vermont licensed center is fully equipped with stimulating and age appropriate toys, books, games and activities. Youngsters are in the good hands of caring, qualified counselors from 8:30 am ?????? 4:30 pm daily.

SMUGGLERS’ REAL ESTATE NEWS
Smugglers’ is currently developing The Owls, an enclave of 2,165 square foot luxury homes set in the wooded North Hill community.
