New Year Round Zip Line Tour Opens at Crested Butte Mountain Resort
MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – June 30, 2011 – After much anticipation, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) opened its new on-mountain Zip Line Tour adventure on June 29, 2011, for summer and winter thrill seekers. The guided tour includes five zip lines, and a series of bridge features, weaving participants through the aspen treetops. The Crested Butte Zip Line Tour is available during the summer and winter seasons; the resort will offer one of the only winter canopy tour operations in the state.
“We’re thrilled with the final product,” said Nick Herrin, CBMR’s director of resort services. “The new Zip Line Tour really helps to round-out our base area options for our guests.”
The design includes five zip lines ranging in length from 150 feet to 400 feet long. Platforms are approximately 10 feet by 10 feet, accommodating 8 participants at one time. The tour is approximately a two-hour-long experience, starting with a 15-minute hike during the summer months. For winter participants, the Peachtree Lift will offer easy lift-served access. Speed is maintained by an auto-braking system, controlled by the weight of each guest, which brings participants to a stop on the ramp at each platform. Two guides accompany each group throughout their tour to ensure a one-of-a-kind guest experience and safety.
CBMR’s guided Zip Line Tour is located in the Peachtree area of the mountain, just above the resort’s base area.
Zip Line Tours run daily through the summer from as early as 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., based on reservations and availability. After September 5, 2011, tours take place on weekends only through the fall for leaf-peeping opportunities. For information visit www.skicb.com .
