Okemo "Cares and Shares" Food Drive is Best Ever
LUDLOW, Vermont ??” The spirit of Thanksgiving carried well through the holiday weekend as Okemo held its annual “Cares and Shares” Food Drive. Skiers and snowboarders visiting Okemo Mountain Resort on Sunday, Nov. 27, donated food, clothing, toys and money to help those in need throughout Ludlow and the Okemo Valley area.
“This was our best year ever,” said Okemo Supervisor of Ambassadors Paul Sullivan. “We filled more than 80 boxes with donated food, collected $1,300 in cash donations and received countless bags of toys and clothing.”
When skiers and riders presented at least three non-perishable food items, a new child’s toy or a new clothing item, their generosity was rewarded with an entire day of skiing and riding at Okemo for just $25. Okemo ambassadors, in their telltale red ski parkas, accepted donations throughout the day. The Black River Good Neighbor Services Christmas Basket program will help distribute the donated items in time for Christmas.
