Pats Peak Ski Area Honored with the Inaugural "SAM Diversity Leadership Award"
HENNIKER, New Hampshire ??” Pats Peak, New Hampshire’s premier family snowsports destination, received the inaugural SAM Diversity Leadership Award at the National Ski Area Association’s (NSAA) National Convention and Tradeshow in Marco Island, FL. SAM, with support of Pepsi, created the SAM Diversity Leadership Award to recognize companies that are at the forefront of hiring, attracting and welcoming multi-cultural groups to their mountain. Understanding that these emerging markets are vital to its future, Pats Peak has made it their mission to put out the “welcome mat” for guests from all walks of life.
Pats Peak works in cooperation with Boston-Based Youth Enrichment Services (YES) and the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS) to bring more minorities to the slopes. Pats Peak has been hosting a Diversity Day on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day for the past eight seasons, complete with a one price entry into the whirlwind of multi-cultural fun, which includes access to skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing, lesson tips, rentals, bonfires, and events from 3pm to 9pm (snowtubing 5pm to 9pm). Group discounts are available for 15 or more people. “Diversity Day provides an atmosphere that encourages individuals to bring others skiing, snowboarding and tubing, who may believe that this is a sport out of their reach. It commemorates the importance of diversity, nondiscrimination, and freedom,” says Jim Wall, Director of Services at Pats Peak.
