West Dover, Vt. (June 17, 2013) – Some of the best downhill mountain bikers on the East Coast will descend upon Mount Snow in southern Vermont for the fifth stop on the POC Eastern States Cup race series, June 22 and 23. Mount Snow has been hosting major downhill mountain bike events for more than two decades and was the first East Coast venue ever to host the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships in 2007 and again in 2008.

There are as many as sixteen different categories riders can register for depending on age, gender and skill level with pro men and women vying for a piece of the cash purse and the fastest amateur riders in each category will go home with gear from event sponsors.

The trail crew at Mount Snow has mapped out the downhill course for this race to include steep, technical sections like Pat’s Pitch and the perennial favorite, Yard Sale, as well as some new progressive open sections of terrain featuring banked turns, tabletops, and step up/step downs.

“It’s always our goal to send these riders down some of our most challenging terrain to test their ability and grit,” says events manager, Tim Dolan. “They’re downhill mountain bikers. Anything that doesn’t scare them a little bit is substandard.”
