WINDHAM, New York — If you listen, you can almost hear the roar now. On April 4 & 5, Rock Maple Racing Snocross returns to Windham Mountain to cap off what has been a great season of racing. Spectators of all ages can enjoy an action-packed weekend of extreme racing that brings in snowmobile racers of all ages and abilities. These epic races have attracted athletes that have qualified at Windham and gone on to compete in the X-Games. If you’ve never seen a snowmobile launch 20 feet in the air at high speed, rest assured it is quite a sight.

Rock Maple Racing (RMR) is more than just motorsports entertainment; it is truly a wholesome family activity for all to enjoy. As the last event of the snowmobile racing season, competition is sure to heat up. Expect a great, family fun weekend of intense snocross racing not to be missed.

Admission to the event is $10 per day for adults. Children 10 years and younger are admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes are also available for an additional $10. Tickets can be purchased at any ticket window at Windham Mountain in advance or on the day of the event. Gates open at 8am and races begin at 9am. Be sure to grab your tickets and arrive early to grab great views next to the track or from Legends Bar & Grill. Windham is a rare venue for Rock Maple, where spectators can enjoy the race while dining in a restaurant above the action.

“The Rock Maple races are such a fun rite of spring,” says Kirt Zimmer, director of marketing for the resort. “For the fans, it’s a great chance to soak up some sun and watch great athletes do their thing. For the racers, this is the last competition of the season and they will be pushing hard to score all the points they can and finish the year strong.”

This event will be the final points race for teams within RMR’s Central series. Windham will also serve as the season finale for Sport and Junior teams in RMR’s West series. This combination means more action for fans, as they’ll be able to watch the top riders do battle.

Leading the charge into Windham is pro rider Danny Poirier. The 2004 Pro 600 and Pro Open champion from St. Theodore, Quebec, has been on a tear this season, with an amazing 10 wins in 12 starts through the most recent Central series event in Ossipee, New Hampshire. Matt Boron (Stock 600, Malone, NY) and John O’Malley (Stock 600, Verona, NY) are the only other riders to record a final round win in the Pro division. Poirier and the Hulten Speed Sports Polaris team have been almost in a class of their own since the first green flag waved at Black Mountain last December. No one rider has been quite this dominant in the 17-year history of Rock Maple Racing.

In the Semi-Pro division, there are several rising stars to keep an eye on in Windham. Vermont-based riders Jake Melville and Brad Davis are coming off final round wins in Ossipee and are a threat to win on any given Sunday. Others to watch include Lucas Brunelle, Trevor Bouchard, Michael George, Aaron Pfeifer, Shaun St. Onge and Garrett Mees.

Don’t miss out on a wild weekend. Be sure to mark your calendars for Rock Maple Racing Snocross at Windham Mountain on April 4 & 5. Grab your family, grab some friends and race on over for an unbelievable weekend.
