Sugarloaf Offers Fun Filled and Romantic Valentine’s Day Weekend
CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine — Couples looking for a romantic and fun filled Valentine’s Day getaway need look no further than Sugarloaf this year, with events scheduled on and off the hill all weekend long including an art show, fine dining high up on the mountain, live music from Soulive and Lettuce and more.
The weekend will kick off with a live show by Maine’s own Motor Booty Affair on Friday, February 13. The state’s top live act, Motor Booty will bring guests back to the 70s with their lively disco act and spot-on covers in the Wdiwomaker Lounge starting at 9:30.
On Saturday, guests can enjoy top notch skiing and riding on the slopes, and a multitude of activities off of the hill as well. The Ski Museum of Maine will kick off the Maine Ski Heritage Classic with an exhibit in the Base Lodge, showcasing photos, memorabilia, and historic equipment to highlight the industry’s growth since the early 1900s. The Classic will continue throughout the weekend, with additional exhibits, a Vintage Ski and Clothing Expo and Parade, and an auction and reception. The full schedule is available here.
Guests can also view local artwork in the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel throughout the weekend, with photography by Johnna Haskell on display in the Blanchard room on Saturday and Sunday.
Following a day on the slopes, couples can enjoy a romantic dinner up on the mountain at Bullwinkles, Sugarloaf’s on-mountain restaurant. Guests will be taken to the secluded cabin by snow cat, where they will be treated to an intimate four-course meal featuring eclectic menu selections prepared by Chef John Reed. The marquis event of the weekend is sure to be a live show by Soulive and Lettuce, presented by Bud Light in the King Pine Room on Saturday at 9pm. Soulive and Lettuce are two of the nation’s top funk acts, and will bring their unique style and incredible stage presence to Sugarloaf’s main stage as part of the resort’s Bud Light Concert Series. Parents with small children can still take advantage of Sugarloaf’s nighttime events, with evening childcare for children ages 10 weeks to 5 years old offered from 6-9pm on Saturday night. Reservations are required by noon, and are available at 207-237-6804.
The fun will continue straight into Sunday, when the Main Event comes to Sugarloaf to showcase New England’s top professional and amateur snowboarders. The top rider will earn a chance to qualify for the Burton US Open.
