CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine — Light snow over the past two and a half days has resulted in 10 inches of new snow at Sugarloaf, leaving the resort nearly 100 percent open with the best conditions so far this season, according to resort officials.

Three inches of snow fell during the day on Monday Jan 18, followed by another three inches on Tuesday, and four inches overnight Tuesday night.

The new snow has pushed Sugarloaf’s trail count up to 131 out of 138 trails and glades, including White Nitro, Powder Keg, Bubblecuffer Extension, and Gondola Line Extension in the Front Face Snowfields. Primary surfaces are powder and packed powder.

“The new snow was a welcome surprise for us and has given us some truly outstanding conditions all over the mountain,” said Ethan Austin, Sugarloaf Communications Manager. “The forecasts from the weekend looked as though this week’s snow was going to miss us, so ten inches is great. This was just what we needed to push our trail count a bit further and augment our snowmaking efforts.”

Forecasts are calling for favorable weather to continue into the weekend, with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 20s expected for Saturday and Sunday.

Sugarloaf is currently offering ski and stay packages for the upcoming weekend for as little $105 per person per night. For more information on Sugarloaf please visit www.sugarloaf.com.
