Sunday River Anticipates Opening On or Before Friday, Nov. 18

NEWRY, Maine ??” Following 36 hours of non-stop snowmaking, Sunday River has announced that opening day is anticipated on or before Friday, Nov. 18. Top-to-bottom terrain will be offered and both the Barker Mountain and South Ridge Base Lodges will be open to guests.

“In the last day and a half we’ve gotten a significant amount of snow down on many upper mountain trails,” said Marvin Collins, vice president of operations at Sunday River. “Getting a jump on snowmaking is key to having big time variety by Thanksgiving. We can open up a lot of trails on a lot of mountains when the temperatures cooperate, as it looks like they??в„ўre going to by the middle of the week.”

An early season tradition, the Tin Mountain Roundup is a food drive for local food banks. Guests who bring at least three cans of food to the Welcome Center at the South Ridge Base Lodge on Saturday or Sunday, Nov. 19-20 are offered a $20 lift ticket.

Sunday River plans to offer a handful of terrain features from day one including rails and boxes adjacent to the Easy Street trail.
