The Highland Games Return to Loon Mountain Sept. 22-24
LINCOLN, New Hampshire ??” The New Hampshire Highland Games is returning home to Loon Mountain on September 22 – 24, 2006. The Games are presented by The New Hampshire Gathering of the Scottish Clans, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the furtherance of the music, dance, athletics and customs of the Scottish people and to the continuance of the Gaelic culture.
The NHHG is one of the largest Scottish Games in North America and has been held at Loon Mountain for twenty-seven of the past thirty years. The Games offer a celebration of music, dance, athletics, Scottish Imports and food for the whole family to enjoy. General parking for the games is available in Lincoln with a free shuttle bus running Friday, Saturday and Sunday to the games. “We are all very excited in the Lincoln-Woodstock area that the Highland Games are returning home to Loon Mountain,” said Loon Mountain General Manager Rick Kelley. “It’s been a few years, but we can’t wait to yet again celebrate the Scottish people and Gaelic Culture in our back yard.”
Albannach and Prydein kick off Friday night’s music at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Tent while Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas & Friends play the Governor’s Lodge at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, Glengarry Bhoys play the Concert Tent at 8:30 p.m. while The Barra MacNeils’ Cape Bretton Concert takes the Governor’s Lodge stage also at 8:30 p.m. Whiskey tasting, dinners and dancing are also taking place throughout the weekend at the Mountain Club on Loon Mountain, Beacon Resort, Indian Head Resort and Heritage Center.
