Wachusett Ski Train Begins Services – North Station to Wachusett
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and its provider of Commuter Rail service, Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR), have teamed up with Wachusett Mountain to provide a special service that will take skiers directly to the slopes throughout the winter.
Skiers and snowboarders will be able to hop on the commuter rail at North Station, or any intermediate stops on the Fitchburg line, and take a specially modified coach to Fitchburg station, where a shuttle bus will be waiting to take them directly to the slopes of Wachusett.
The Ski Trains will run every Saturday and Sunday during ski season on the following trains:
Outbound from Boston to Fitchburg – Train #1405/2405, 8:35am from North Station
Inbound from Fitchburg to Boston – Train #1412/2412, 5:35pm From Fitchburg
The modified coach is equipped with special space-saving racks for ski and snowboard equipment.
“Ski Trains” were originally introduced by the MBTA and MBCR in 2006, and are back in 2011-2012 by popular customer demand.
