Winter has arrived at Mount Snow with more than 17″ of New Snow in the last 48 hours
West Dover, VT (January 14, 2012) – It was a long time coming, but Mount Snow Resort in Southern Vermont got the brunt of a pair of winter storm systems that passed through New England starting Thursday morning dropping a total of 17″ of natural snow in the last 48 hours. The snow came just in time for the MLK Holiday Weekend so Mount Snow is expecting a strong turnout of skiers and riders with open terrain expanding from 32 trails covering 243 acres on Wednesday, January 10th to 50 trails and more than 312 skiable acres as of Saturday, January 14th at 11:00am.
This is the first major winter storm to hit the Green Mountains since ski season began in December and is a welcome sight for snow sport enthusiasts. Even with all the natural snow, Mount Snow is taking advantage of the seasonable temperatures by firing up its powerful snowmaking system as of Friday evening with plans to continue open terrain expansion over the next few days.
