WINTERGREEN, Virginia — With the return of cold temperatures, Wintergreen’s fully computerized York?В® snowmaking system and expert snowmakers are hard at work blanketing the resort’s slopes with fresh snow. Mother Nature even pitched in with a dusting of natural snow this afternoon.

Wintergreen’s slopes will remain closed on Wednesday to concentrate on intense snowmaking. While closed, the resort can run its snow guns harder and position them in places to concentrate its efforts.

Wintergreen Resort will reopen its slopes Thursday morning for the upcoming three-day holiday weekend. Eagles Swoop, Upper and Lower Dobie, Potato Patch, Lower Cross Trail and the new learning area are scheduled to open first, with additional slopes opening as soon as conditions allow.
