World Cup Nordic Combined ‘B’ Slated For December 16-18

LAKE PLACID, NY ??” The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) will host the 2004 Lamb Lumber FIS World Cup Nordic Combined ‘B’ December 16-18 at the MacKenzie-Intervale Ski Jumping Complex.

The event will feature 2002 U.S. Olympians Bill Demong (Vermontville, N.Y.) and Jed Hinkley (Andover, N.H.). The first day of competition is December 16 with the Gundersen Individual first round 90-meter ski jump competition set for 10:30 a.m. The second round will follow at 12 p.m. and finish with the 15-kilometer cross country competition at 3 p.m.

On December 17, the competition begins at 11 a.m. with the sprint competition 90-meter ski jump. The 7.5-kilometer cross country race starts at 2 p.m. and concludes the sprint competition.

The final day of competition features a 10-kilometer mass start cross country competition at 9 a.m on December 18. The athletes then move to the jumping portion of the event, with the first round off the 90-meter jump at 12 p.m. and wrapping up with the second round at 1:30 p.m.

Athletes from 13 different nations will participate in the three-day competition, including local athletes David McCahill, Matt Delaney, Robbie Goodwin and Willy Graves.

Admission to the 2004 Lamb Lumber FIS World Cup Nordic Combined ‘B’ is $10 for adults and $6 for juniors/seniors. This includes a chairlift and elevator ride to the SkyDeck atop of the 120-meter ski jump tower.
